In the deep valley of the Dyje, in the very heart of the Podyjí National Park, on the side of a rocky promontory in the meander of the river lies one of the oldest and probably the best vineyards of European wine-growing locations - Šobes. The river Dyje, which flows around the vineyard, has a special significance, warm days and cooler nights, fogs and finally the stony, acidic soil on the gneiss base, which absorbs the sun's heat during the day and emits it intensively again at night. The local microclimate is similar to conditions on the Rhine or in the French Rhone valley, for example. The first vineyards in this blessed wine region are said to have been established by Roman legionnaires. In short, it would be a mistake to visit Znojemsko and not see Šobes - especially when the tasting stand of the Znovín winery is open right on the vineyard.
Opening hours of the tasting stand (tel.: 721 942 271):
